Misunderstood monsters are all invited to my house next Monday night. That’s right, I’m hosting a monster bash: a celebratory fête for all the good hearts crying out from inside a somewhat disfigured facade.
What’s that? You’re a helpful ghost? A big friendly giant? A monster afraid of the dark? Come one and come all. I’m having a spooky movie night and i’m inviting my closest friends and all misunderstood goblins.
My closet friends, however, will need to wear a spooky sweater to the monster bash. I’ve decided that ugly sweater parties shouldn’t always be reserved for Christmas. Let’s start rocking the heavy knits a little sooner, shall we? Here are my top picks:
As for the entertainment, my friends have requested the following:
I want the Casper sweater! Love the idea of moving Ugly Christmas Sweater parties up a couple months.
the casper sweater is my favorite too, i planned spooky sweater party just for an excuse to wear it 🙂
I love the writing of this.
thanks for saying so 🙂
Oh my goodness, I know I am seriously dating myself here, but I just had flashback memories of watching the original Casper cartoon on Saturday mornings 🙂 Thank you, I think 😉
minneapolis has this brunch spot that plays ‘flashback cartoons’ while you dine — keeps all those saturday mornings fresh in my mind 🙂 do your kids do saturday morning cartoons? is that still a thing?
Unfortunately, it seems as though Saturday morning cartoons are a thing of the past. Much like phones that you actually “dialed”, they are something we just talk about now 😉 It has now been replaced with on-demand shows offered by Netflix et al. Oh, how times have changed 🙂
Such a great idea! Casper was a staple in my house growing up. And that monster sweater may be something I just wear year round…
Obviously you need to document this night with some fun pictures. 😉
Love it!
um i really wish i could come to this!! move to boston please?! hocus pocus and casper definitely bring me back to my childhood, and i love anything tim burton, so your movie selections are perfect!
The end of Casper, when they slow dance is probably my favorite movie scene of all time! So sweet. “Can I Keep You”?
that scene is the entire reason casper was included in the movie selection. oh devon sawa!
I LOVE this! Monster Movie Night with ghostly tacky sweaters! What could be better? If only we lived closer… my husband and I would be there!
Both of us are HUGE scary movie fans and we try to do a movie marathon around Halloween! They always include: Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Changeling (with George C. Scott), The Ring, Sleepy Hollow and Silver Bullet (Stephen King and the best werewolf movie EVER!).
As a baker I have to ask, what kind of ghoulish goodies are you making? I love to bake themed goodies for any get-together! 🙂
I LOVE that ghost sweater! Sounds like a fun night. I can’t wait to watch Rosemary’s Baby and The Shining this fall!
Jon loves the shining, so that will definitely be in our lineup too 🙂
HOCUS POCUS! AKA, the best Halloween movie ever 🙂 What a fun party–wish I could crash it! Remember how dreamy Devon Sawa was in Casper? Now I need to see if I can find those movies on Amazon Prime. They bring back such good tween memories…
Sorry, I just realized I posted my comment on the wrong post! Erm, still loving those sweaters! ;D
i figured as much, no problem 🙂 just don’t buy the sweaters, right??
