endless hope

My favorite time of day is the first couple of hours before the sun comes up.  The quiet of morning makes me feel quite alone in the world, and I enjoy strolling the vacant streets with a cup of coffee.  The walk wakes my body, the coffee jolts my mind, and, ever so slowly, people begin to trickle out of their homes and into the streets.

If you look closely, everyone seems to understand their place in the world around 8am – business associates hop determinedly onto buses, students crack open their books, and shopkeepers swiftly sweep the floors.  As the day progresses, people inevitably feel tired or angry or sad, but in the morning, it just seems like endless hope.

That’s all for now, but tell me – what’s your favorite time of day?

  1. i love that picture – reminds me of me and phoebe drinking tea in my apartment! 🙂 {well phoebe doesn’t drink tea…you know what i mean.} my favorite time of day is when i go to bed after a busy day…the day is finally over and i can relax and cuddle with phoebe while i drift off into dreamland 🙂

  2. I know what you mean by the early morning. I used to be awake at 4:00 am and be walking outside at 6:00 am. There is something so peaceful about that time of the day. For me personally, my favorite time of the day is mid morning after everyone has gone off to work or school. The ground is humming and I am at peace. I love to go walking outside just after 10 am. 🙂

  3. My favorite time of day is in the late afternoon on days when I don’t have to hit the gym- the whole evening stretches ahead, there’s all this time to do stuff (be it errands, chores around the house, relaxing), and the stress of the work day is usually gone. 🙂

  4. I’m right there with you on the morning hours. To be quite honest, I almost enjoy Monday mornings the best. I know, I’m weird. For it’s on those Monday mornings that everything seems to start a little bit sooner for everyone else, giving me the opportunity to relish those quiet moments of solitude at the beginning of the week.

  5. Love, love, love! I say that I’m not a morning person, but really I don’t know if that’s true. I just hate the first 10 minutes or so of sleepiness haha. Afterward, I absolutely love the magic of the morning (AND COFFEE!!! Also magical)—which you captured perfectly here!

  6. I’m most definitely a morning person when it comes to energy and getting things done and tackling tasks and making plans…but as far as sitting, reflecting, quietness…that’s the evening for me!

  7. As I read and write this, I have a cup of coffee to my left and a dark sky to my right. My favorite time as well! My quiet mornings are easily the highlight of most my days.

Tell me something happy:
