It was an up and down, spin around, jam-packed day. All the action makes it doubly interesting that I went to bed thinking about a single, seemingly ordinary, incident: I was in line at Starbucks when I overheard a young girl tell her friend, “I don’t know her that well, but I spend time with her whenever I can – I want to be just like her when I grow up.”
I sighed five times but I really wanted to turn around and give the girl a hug. Her comment was sweet, yes, but the casualness of her words also hinted at a loving and soulful spirit.
The 3 minute wait for my chai tea became an opportunity to muse about the importance of role models. This girl was lucky to have someone admirable to look up to, and I would hope that each of us feels similarly about someone special in our life. As for me? I hope to be as forgiving as my grandmother, as loving as my great aunt, and as joyful as my young cousin. They all read this blog, so let this post be a bit of a ‘thank you’ to each of them.
Who is your role model? And isn’t this post better than what I meant to write about DIY kitchen towels for spring?
